Last night, I talked about the past a little bit.
Today I got a dose of it.
Where to begin? I had a dalliance this past fall with hoodie!boy that ended (insert appropriate adverb here. No, seriously. I have yet to come up with one that adequately describes the verb "ended"). The thing is hoodie!boy is a coworker of mine. Now, before the whole "don't mix business and pleasure" thing, my parents had a workplace romance, so I'm going with the whole idea that it was pretty much coded into my DNA to be attracted to someone I work with. There was no escaping it.
Hoodie!boy is thus named because of a memorable night out which had him throw up his hood in a freaking hot club and do some sort of velociraptor move that was very confusing-slash-entertaining to my drunken self. That night out could be a whole blog in of itself.
Anyway, that visceral reaction I talked about last night? I had it with him. The first time I saw him, his eyes about killed me dead. My little heart when pitter pat...pitter pat... radio silence.
The dalliance ended as dalliances tend to do. Life goes on, and shit happens, and whatever other trite sayings fit.
Then today, I remembered how he kept my little heart going pitter pat...pitter pat... radio silence for months. The ever classic "Died In Your Arms Tonight" was on the radio at work. Hoodie!boy was being hoodie!boy and singing along to it with a more than falsetto tint, dramatic gesturing included. I genuinely busted out laughing. It's been a long while since I can say that. In that moment I forgot about the drama, the angst, the back and forth. I just... laughed and remembered how fun it was at the start.
I'm looking forward to having that fun again. I need some pitter pat...pitter pat... radio silence in my life.
